Study presentation “Evaluation of the FIW project” on October 23, 2024, 10:00 – 10:45 a.m.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

The evaluation of the FIW project – by a team from Economica and IWI under the leadership of Professor Christian Helmenstein (Economica) – lasted a total of one year and included various methods. Based on a descriptive presentation and survey of the FIW’s achievements (events, publications), further methods were applied, such as intertemporal benchmarking as well as network, publication, media and career analyses. A broad-based online survey of all stakeholders and in-depth interviews rounded off the extensive set of methods. The primary aim of the study was to determine the overall benefits of the FIW. Therefore, all measures of the economic policy and economic science pillars were examined with regard to their impact on the Austrian research landscape, foreign trade policy, the economy and the public. The evaluation team also drew up recommendations for the future development and increased impact of the measures. These will be incorporated into the extension of the FIW project from March 2025.
